Two Nikkei Australia members will speak at a special lecture in Tokyo organised by the Australian Studies Association of Japan. The event will be in person in Tokyo and online, and explore how Japanese female immigrants in Northern Australia navigated uncertain times in pre-war Australia.

Speakers are Nikkei Australia member Dr Tianna Killoran from James Cook University and Professor Yuichi Murakami of Fukushima University.

Dr Killoran’s talk is titled, ‘Movements and Migrations: Japanese Women in Northern Australia during the White Australia era.’

Professor Yuichi Murakami’s talk is titled, 「タウンズビル地域と日本:Y.TashimaとJapanese Houseを中心に」
