Nikkei Australia member Rebecca Hausler will join other Past Wrongs Future Choices project research award winners Yuukichi Niwayama (Japan), Greg Robinson (Canada) in an online presentation – Edges of Internment.
This presentation will shed new light on the internment and incarceration of Nikkei peoples by re-examining history from the margins.
Yuukichi Niwayama tells the story of a Japanese Canadian, who helped others evade internment by escaping the coast before government orders.
Greg Robinson explains the little-known responses of the Catholic Church in the US and Canada.
And Rebecca Hausler examines the burgeoning creative literature on internment in both Australia and Japan.
