Nikkei Australia members Dr Timothy Kazuo Steains and Aoife Wilkinson will host a film screening and panel discussion on mixed-race Japanese experiences in Australia and Japan on Friday, 18th November at 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Old Geology Lecture Theatre, The University of Sydney.

WHOLE (2019) is an award-winning short film directed by Bilal Kawazoe, exploring the identities of two young men of mixed Japanese background living in Japan. Following the screening, a panel discussion will be held with Tim Steains and Aoife Wilkinson, Reina Takeuchi, dance practitioner and PhD candidate, as well as Iori Forsyth and Joe Flynn from the popular YouTube channel 大家族フォーサイス家.

This film will be shown in Japanese with English subtitles and the runtime is 44 minutes. The panel discussion will be held in English. This is a free event, however bookings are required and close on Thursday 17 September 9 am or until sold out.
